FAQ
How do I book a session?
Simply fill out my contact form & I’ll be in touch to check availability & get everything set up. I do my best to respond within 24–48 hours. To officially reserve your date, a signed contract and a 50% retainer are required. Once both are received, your session is secured on my calendar.
Do you require a deposit, & is it refundable?
Yes. A 50% non-refundable retainer is required at the time of booking to reserve your session date. The remaining 50% is due on the day of the session.
If the session has been paid in full & is canceled more than two weeks prior to the session date, the retainer will be retained & the remaining balance will be refunded. If the session is canceled within two weeks of the scheduled date, the full balance is non-refundable due to the high likelihood that the date cannot be rebooked. Any exceptions must be discussed & agreed upon in advance.
Is there a discount for return clients?
Yes! I offer $25 off for returning clients booking a family, portrait, couples, or engagement session. Weddings & elopements are excluded from this offer.
How long is a session?
Session length varies depending on the type of session you book. Most portrait & family sessions last between 45–90 minutes, allowing plenty of time for a relaxed & enjoyable experience.
Can we choose our session location?
Yes! I’m happy to recommend beautiful spots on & around Mackinac Island & Saint Ignace, or you can suggest your own. I’ll help choose a location that matches your vision & session style.
What if my kids don’t cooperate?
That’s completely okay! I approach sessions with patience & flexibility & allow space for kids to be themselves. Some of the best moments come from letting things unfold naturally.
Can we bring pets?
Yes, I absolutely love working with dogs & welcome them at most photoshoots! Pets often bring a unique and joyful element to the session, & I’m happy to capture those special moments with your furry friend.
If you would like to have your dog in your photos I ask that the dog stays leashed the entire time. waste bags are brought for you to clean up after your dog during the session, & your dogs favorite toy or treat for encouragement. For safety reasons, I do not work with dogs that have a known history of aggression toward people or other animals. If your dog has behavioral issues or fears that might interfere with the session, please let me know in advance. While I can offer guidance & use positive reinforcement, it’s important to keep in mind that dogs are not always predictable! Patience & flexibility are key when working with pets! At some locations dogs are not allowed so please check with me beforehand.
What if someone in our group needs special accommodations?
Please let me know in advance so we can plan together. I’m happy to help choose locations that are more accessible, especially given that Mackinac Island has no cars & some areas are easier to navigate than others.
I have more people than my family session allows, what can I do?
No problem, additional people can be added to any family session for $25 per person.
How many photos will we receive?
All images are professionally edited & delivered in high resolution. Each session includes a guaranteed number of digital images (such as 20, 35, or 50). If you’d like additional images, you’re welcome to reach out & we can discuss options & pricing.
When will I get my photos?
Sneak peeks of all sessions will be delivered within a week of your session via an online gallery delivered to your email & posted on social pages to share with friends & family!
You will then receive an updated online gallery link when your gallery is complete. Family, Portrait, Engagement, & Couples Sessions are delivered at a maximum of 8 weeks. Weddings & Elopements are delivered at a maximum of 14 weeks. Sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story.
Will we receive unedited images?
No. I do not deliver unedited or RAW images, as the editing process is a large part of my artistic style & final product.
Can I apply filters to my photos or get the unedited photos?
Images are edited at the Photographer’s discretion. The Photographer reserves the creative rights to edit & release only those images deemed credible as professional in quality & within the photographer’s artistic standards. Photographer will not alter clients body shape or face shape in any way shape or form. Raw Images will not be sent to the Client. In no event shall the client edit, apply filters or modify any final images submitted by the Photographer in any way without prior written consent from the Photographer.
What can I do with my online gallery?
You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, & order prints directly on my site or wherever you choose.
Can we share our photos on social media?
Yes! You’re welcome to share your images for personal use. I always appreciate being tagged when possible.
What if the weather is bad?
I personally work with all my clients to find a time that they are on island to reschedule at either a different time or a different day.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel please let me know ASAP! I do require a 50% non refundable retainer that if the client cancels themselves is non refundable. If the session is already paid in full & outside of the two week timeframe, the 50% for the retainer will be kept & the remaining will be refunded. If the event is canceled within two weeks of the date, the client shall pay the balance of the contract due to the high probability that the Photographer will not be able to further book that date unless discussed with the photographer & an agreement is met. Once a balance is paid, it is non-refundable.
If I need to cancel for any reason a full refund will be given.
What happens if something happens to the photographer & she has to cancel?
If the Photographer cannot perform due to a fire, casualty, strike or other civil disturbances, sickness, pregnancy, family emergencies or Acts of God, including but not limited to, road closures, severe traffic, fire, terrorism or other causes beyond the control of the parties, then the Photographer shall return any moneys paid by the Client.
